Our Drug Goggle Simulation is an eye-opening, hands-on experience designed to raise awareness about the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs. Participants wear specially designed goggles that distort vision, mimicking the effects of drug impairment such as delayed reaction times, blurred vision, and poor coordination. 

Through activities like walking a straight line or navigating simple obstacles, participants experience how drugs affect their ability to perform even the most basic tasks. The simulation powerfully highlights the risks of driving impaired, emphasising why staying sober behind the wheel is critical for everyone’s safety. 

This engaging activity is perfect for schools, workplaces, and community events, providing a fun yet educational way to learn about the importance of responsible driving.

Participants will receive an introduction to the activity, including a discussion on the effects of drugs on the body and the dangers of drug driving. A brief explanation of the drug goggles and how they simulate drug impairment will be provided. Participants will be fitted with drug goggles that replicate the visual impairment caused by cannabis. These goggles simulate a large number of effects surrounding the consumption of cannabis.

Participants will attempt to walk on a mat whilst they complete a series of tasks that mimic driving actions, such as walking along a straight line, navigating around obstacles, and performing simple coordination exercises. The tasks will be designed to highlight the difficulty and danger of performing these actions while impaired. After completing the tasks, participants will have the opportunity to reflect on their experiences and discuss the challenges they faced while wearing the drug goggles. Facilitators will lead a discussion on the importance of not driving under the influence of drugs and the real-life consequences of impaired driving.
