Even after becoming permanent, this scheme will continue to reward safe drivers who maintain a clean record for a period of 12 months. However, that permanent program will become effective only after the current trial ends. How the Demerit Point Reward Works
The concept behind this program is pretty straightforward. If you’re eligible for the program and you manage not to break any traffic and road rules for a period of 12 months, one demerit point is removed from your record.
